Legalizing Marijuana in California Could Be Good for the Environment

Legalizing Marijuana in California Could Be Good for the Environment:

As you might have heard by now, there's legislation brewing in California to legalize marijuana. And no, the purpose of Assemblyman Tom Ammiano's bill is not to legally allow the entire state to get high and forget all about its budget woes—the point of the bill is to fix them. By making the sale of marijuana legal to those 21 and up, and taxing each ounce sold with a $50 fee, California could rake in an estimated $1.3 billion dollars a year. But what would it mean for the environment?

Moriah conquering wind presents: Illuminati 666, Book 2

5.0 out of 5 stars The Pendulum swings....history repeats itself, July 24, 2003
By A Customer
As always, history repeats itself. As always, when a writer attempts to dig in the mines of history for guarded secrets of truth, he is more often subject to attack by the skeptical, the ignorant, and the et ceteras. I found this book to be very interesting, and have corroborated many of its findings with my own research into the historical annals. A competent student of the Bible and world history would show this book as a window into a guarded history of secret societies and plans so covertly shadowed, that the average person would consider them as non-existent. Ahhh but they DO exist! (present tense, mind you).
I appreciate the depth, time, and research put into this one. It has catapulted me on a 12 to 13 year historical quest, which has NOT been fruitless, to say the least. I would definitely give The Illuminati 666 a 5 star review, for there is MUCH more that could be written on the subject. Hats off to the brave and the unafraid that would submit to ridicule and rebuff to even tackle it at all!

Israel steals more land from the west bank{Moriah Conquering Wind}

"Israel steals more land from the west bank"
By KARIN LAUB, Associated Press Writer Karin Laub, Associated Press Writer Mon Feb 16, 3:44 pm ET

EFRAT, West Bank – Plans to expand a West Bank settlement by up to 2,500 homes drew Palestinian condemnation Monday and presented an early test for President Barack Obama, whose Mideast envoy is well known for opposing such construction.

Israel opened the way for possible expansion of the Efrat settlement by taking control of a nearby West Bank hill of 423 acres. The rocky plot was recently designated state land and is part of a master plan that envisions the settlement growing from 9,000 to 30,000 residents, Efrat Mayor Oded Revivi said.

Israeli officials said any new construction would require several years more of planning and stages of approval.

The outgoing government of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has said it reserves the right to keep building in large West Bank settlement blocs that it wants to annex as part of a final peace deal with the Palestinians. Efrat is in one of those blocs.

The composition of Israel's next government is not clear yet, because last week's elections were inconclusive. However, right-wing parties are given a better chance to form a ruling coalition, with hard-line leader Benjamin Netanyahu as prime minister.

Speaking to U.S. Jewish leaders Monday, the two contenders for leading the new Israeli government expressed their differences over the Palestinian issue.

Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, whose centrist Kadima party won 28 of the 120 seats in parliament, said Israel must withdraw from "parts of the Land of Israel," a reference to the West Bank, in a peace deal.

Netanyahu, whose hawkish Likud won 27 seats, said he does not want to govern Palestinians but insisted on Israeli control of borders, airspace and electronic communications.

Netanyahu supports settlement expansion and has derided peace talks with the Palestinians as a waste of time, saying he would focus instead on trying to improve the Palestinian economy. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has called Netanyahu's approach unacceptable, and his aides said recently that peace talks can resume only if settlement construction is halted.

"We oppose settlement activity in principle, and if the settlement activity doesn't stop, any meetings (with the Israelis) will be worthless," Abbas said Monday.

Settlement expansion is likely to create friction not only with the Palestinians, but with Obama, whose Mideast envoy, George Mitchell, has long pushed for a freeze on the expansion of Jewish settlements.

Still, settlements have grown steadily, including during the past year of U.S.-backed peace talks that ended without results.

Nearly 290,000 Israelis live in West Bank settlements today, or 95,000 more than in May 2001, when Mitchell led a U.S. fact-finding mission to the West Bank to find ways of ending several months of Israeli-Palestinian violence and resuming peace talks.

At the time, Mitchell called on Palestinian authorities to rein in militants involved in deadly bombings and shootings against Israelis, and he said Israel must freeze all settlement construction.

The newly designated state land, called "Eitam Hill" by settlers, is more than 2 kilometers (a mile) north of Efrat and just east of a cluster of Palestinian towns and villages, with biblical Bethlehem at the center.

Abdel Rahman al-Haj, a Palestinian plumber in Bethlehem, said that he owns 5.5 acres (2 hectares) between Efrat and Eitam Hill and that intruders with bulldozers had repeatedly tried to clear a dirt road across his land since last month, in an apparent attempt to create access to Eitam Hill. The dirt road was clearly visible during a visit Monday.

Al-Haj said he filed a complaint with the Israeli police and obtained a stop-work order from Israel's Civil Administration, the branch of the Israeli military that deals with West Bank land use. Civil Administration officials had no immediate comment on the case.

Revivi, the Efrat mayor, said he was unaware of bulldozers clearing al-Haj's land. "Everything is done in accordance with what the government is allowing us to do," he said.

However, Efrat municipal engineer Moshe Ben Elisha wrote in a recent edition of the settlement's newspaper, Efraton, that "efforts are currently under way to create continuity between Olive Hill (an area of Efrat) and Eitam Hill." He did not elaborate.

Yesh Din, an Israeli human rights group involved in the case, said Monday that over the years Israel's government has assigned almost all areas designated as state land to settlements. Yesh Din said that is a violation of international law, which requires an occupying power to act for the benefit of the local population.

"Declaring these huge amounts of land as `state land,' as done by the Civil Administration, is only for expanding the settlement and not for the local Palestinian population," Yesh Din said.

Confessions of an Economic Hit Man (Paperback)

Posted in by Illuminated One | Edit

Amazon.com Review
John Perkins started and stopped writing Confessions of an Economic Hit Man four times over 20 years. He says he was threatened and bribed in an effort to kill the project, but after 9/11 he finally decided to go through with this expose of his former professional life. Perkins, a former chief economist at Boston strategic-consulting firm Chas. T. Main, says he was an "economic hit man" for 10 years, helping U.S. intelligence agencies and multinationals cajole and blackmail foreign leaders into serving U.S. foreign policy and awarding lucrative contracts to American business. "Economic hit men (EHMs) are highly paid professionals who cheat countries around the globe out of trillions of dollars," Perkins writes. Confessions of an Economic Hit Man is an extraordinary and gripping tale of intrigue and dark machinations. Think John Le Carré, except it's a true story.

Perkins writes that his economic projections cooked the books Enron-style to convince foreign governments to accept billions of dollars of loans from the World Bank and other institutions to build dams, airports, electric grids, and other infrastructure he knew they couldn't afford. The loans were given on condition that construction and engineering contracts went to U.S. companies. Often, the money would simply be transferred from one bank account in Washington, D.C., to another one in New York or San Francisco. The deals were smoothed over with bribes for foreign officials, but it was the taxpayers in the foreign countries who had to pay back the loans. When their governments couldn't do so, as was often the case, the U.S. or its henchmen at the World Bank or International Monetary Fund would step in and essentially place the country in trusteeship, dictating everything from its spending budget to security agreements and even its United Nations votes. It was, Perkins writes, a clever way for the U.S. to expand its "empire" at the expense of Third World citizens. While at times he seems a little overly focused on conspiracies, perhaps that's not surprising considering the life he's led. --Alex Roslin --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

The Energy Non-Crisis {MORIAH CONQURING WIND}

5.0 out of 5 stars Oil enough to spare, June 23, 2004
By A Customer
I agree with the reviewer from Arizona that the book itself drifts from subject to subject, is not very well written, reads like a diary, and is outdated and undocumented. BUT ... none of this is the point of this book. Lindsey's goal was simply to make the public aware of what he saw and experienced during construction of the Alaska Oil Pipeline. The book is a testimonial. Read the review of the person from Montana. I concur.

Once again we're all being told that we're in an "energy crisis." (Been there ... done that already!) The price of fuel is above $2 per gallon and is sure to hit $5. The United States has oil deposits all over (or should I say, under) its holdings. Get real! SOMEBODY is controlling the supply of both petroleum and natural gas to the public. There is no need of a shortage. THAT'S the point of the book, and Rev. Lindsey's message.

And, by the way, "conspiracies" DO exist ... and they are only "theories" if they are unproven.

5.0 out of 5 stars There is as much oil in Alaska as Arabia, January 25, 2002
By "rce33" (Missoula, Montana United States) - See all my reviews
Although dated, having been written in the early 70's, the testimony of Rev. Lindsay is valuable. The author is a simple, but Godly man who only states what he saw, and came to the obvious conclusions. It is amazing how brainwashed people are that they revile anyone who speaks the truth. Those people who doubt Rev. Lindsay need to open their hearts and minds and investigate more on the matter. Rev. Lindsay, Chaplin on the Prudhoe Bay Pipeline, the largest construction project in history to that time, having executive status, was present at the discovery of an oil field below Gull Isand the size of the Prudhoe Bay pool. The gov't forced the oil companies to keep quiet or else they'd shut them down with over regulation. Rev. Lindsay saw the gusher come in and was there when the test results came in. We need to stop financing the Arab weapons progams against us and utilize our own abundant resources. The executive of the oil company at Gull Island told the pastor that there are many pools of oil like that at Prudhoe Bay under Alaska, but that the government won't let them be touched. Consistent with Lindsay's experience, I personally know of a deposit of oil in northwest Montana that is being concealed from the public. This is a good book for those investigating the international banking conspiracy.
