The person who may be responsible for more food-related illness and death than anyone in history has just been made the US food safety czar. This is no joke.

Here's the back story.

When FDA scientists were asked to weigh in on what was to become the most radical and potentially dangerous change in our food supply -- the introduction of genetically modified (GM) foods -- secret documents now reveal that the experts were very concerned. Memo after memo described toxins, new diseases, nutritional deficiencies, and hard-to-detect allergens. They were adamant that the technology carried "serious health hazards," and required careful, long-term research, including human studies, before any genetically modified organisms (GMOs) could be safely released into the food supply.

But the biotech industry had rigged the game so that neither science nor scientists would stand in their way. They had placed their own man in charge of FDA policy and he wasn't going to be swayed by feeble arguments related to food safety. No, he was going to do what corporations had done for decades to get past these types of pesky concerns. He was going to lie.

Dangerous Food Safety Lies

When the FDA was constructing their GMO policy in 1991-2, their scientists were clear that gene-sliced foods were significantly different and could lead to "different risks" than conventional foods. But official policy declared the opposite, claiming that the FDA knew nothing of significant differences, and declared GMOs substantially equivalent.

This fiction became the rationale for allowing GM foods on the market without any required safety studies whatsoever! The determination of whether GM foods were safe to eat was placed entirely in the hands of the companies that made them -- companies like Monsanto, which told us that the PCBs, DDT, and Agent Orange were safe.

GMOs were rushed onto our plates in 1996. Over the next nine years, multiple chronic illnesses in the US nearly doubled -- from 7% to 13%. Allergy-related emergency room visits doubled between 1997 and 2002 while food allergies, especially among children, skyrocketed. We also witnessed a dramatic rise in asthma, autism, obesity, diabetes, digestive disorders, and certain cancers.

You're (Probably) a Federal Criminal

Federal law now criminalizes activities that the average person would never dream would land him in prison. Consequently, every year, thousands of upstanding, responsible Americans run afoul of some incomprehensible federal law and end up serving time in federal prison.

With all the attention that's been paid lately to long federal sentences for drug offenders, it's surprising that a far more troubling phenomenon has barely hit the media's radar screen. Every year, thousands of upstanding, responsible Americans run afoul of some incomprehensible federal law or regulation and end up serving time in federal prison.

What is especially disturbing is that it could happen to anyone at all -- and it has.

We should applaud Reps. Bobby Scott (D-Va.) and Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), then, for holding a bipartisan hearing today to examine how federal law can make a criminal out of anyone, for even the most mundane conduct.

Federal law in particular now criminalizes entire categories of activities that the average person would never dream would land him in prison. This is an inevitable result of the fact that the criminal law is no longer restricted to punishing inherently wrongful conduct -- such as murder, rape, robbery, and the like.

Moreover, under these new laws, the government can often secure a conviction without having to prove that the person accused even intended to commit a bad act, historically a protection against wrongful conviction.

Laws like this are dangerous in the hands of social engineers and ambitious lawmakers -- not to mention overzealous prosecutors -- bent on using government's greatest civilian power to punish any activity they dislike. So many thousands of criminal offenses are now in federal law that a prominent federal appeals court judge titled his recent essay on this overcriminalization problem, "You're (Probably) a Federal Criminal."

Consider small-time inventor and entrepreneur Krister Evertson, who will testify at today's hearing. Krister never had so much as a traffic ticket before he was run off the road near his mother's home in Wasilla, Alaska, by SWAT-armored federal agents in large black SUVs training automatic weapons on him.

Evertson, who had been working on clean-energy fuel cells since he was in high school, had no idea what he'd done wrong. It turned out that when he legally sold some sodium (part of his fuel-cell materials) to raise cash, he forgot to put a federally mandated safety sticker on the UPS package he sent to the lawful purchaser.

Krister's lack of a criminal record did nothing to prevent federal agents from ransacking his mother's home in their search for evidence on this oh-so-dangerous criminal.

The good news is that a federal jury in Alaska acquitted Krister of all charges. The jurors saw through the charges and realized that Krister had done nothing wrong.

12,000 U.S. Children To Be Swine Flu Vaccine Guinea Pigs

Around 12,000 U.S. children will be used as guinea pigs for an experimental swine flu vaccine known to contain the dangerous ingredient squalene, which has been directly linked with cases of Gulf War Syndrome and a host of other debilitating diseases.

According to a report in the Oklahoman, 12,000 children nationwide will partake in “fast-tracked studies” to test the side-effects of the untested swine flu vaccine in trials set to begin next month.

“The trials will test the vaccine’s effectiveness and whether or not it has negative side effects in patients,” states the report.

Since less than 100 children in the U.S. die from regular seasonal flu each year, a reasonable estimate would be that around 100 children will die from swine flu over the course of the next year.

So in effect, the authorities will vaccinate millions of children in order to try and prevent 100 deaths. If the mass vaccination program mirrors the previous swine flu outbreak of 1976 then the vaccine is likely to kill more people than the actual virus.

Furthermore, since the swine flu vaccine includes squalene, a dangerous adjuvant that contributed to Gulf War Syndrome cases, there’s little doubt that it will lead to debilitating lifelong diseases far more deadly than the swine flu virus itself for thousands of children if a mass vaccination campaign is conducted.

According to Meryl Nass, M.D., “A novel feature of the two H1N1 vaccines being developed by companies Novartis and GlaxoSmithKline is the addition of squalene-containing adjuvants to boost immunogenicity and dramatically reduce the amount of viral antigen needed. This translates to much faster production of desired vaccine quantities.”

“Research shows that squalene is the experimental anthrax vaccine ingredient that caused devastating autoimmune diseases and deaths for many Gulf War veterans from the US, UK, and Australia, yet it continues in use today and for new vaccines development in labs,” writes Stephen Lendman.

According to award-winning investigative journalist Gary Matsumoto, there’s a “close match between the squalene-induced diseases in animals and those observed in humans injected with this oil: rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis and systemic lupus erythematosus.”

“There are now data in more than two dozen peer-reviewed scientific papers, from ten different laboratories in the US, Europe, Asia and Australia, documenting that squalene-based adjuvants can induce autoimmune diseases in animals…observed in mice, rats, guinea pigs and rabbits. Sweden’s Karolinska Institute has demonstrated that squalene alone can induce the animal version of rheumatoid arthritis. The Polish Academy of Sciences has shown that in animals, squalene alone can produce catastrophic injury to the nervous system and the brain. The University of Florida Medical School has shown that in animals, squalene alone can induce production of antibodies specifically associated with systemic lupus erythematosus,” writes Matsumoto.

The International Banking Cartel is the New World Order

My belief in the existence of the New World Order centers around the activities, actions and writings of the members of the elite (mostly Anglo-American) inside the international banking cartel – which of course includes the Rockefeller and Rothschild families – over roughly the last century.

This cartel, through their financing of two World Wars; the revolutions of Lenin/Stalin and Hitler, among others; the creation of the IMF, World Bank and other private “central banks” like the Federal Reserve and the Bank of England; as well as their backing of international organizations like the United Nations, World Health Organization, World Trade Organization has sought to control not only the purse strings of the governments of the world, but also the policies, laws and programs that those governments and agencies implement.

Through their financing of both sides of wars (WWI and II, Cold War, War on Drugs, War on Terror, etc); their manufacture of financial crisis (Great Depression, the coming Greater Depression) and financing of ideological movements (eugenics/population control, feminism, communism, fascism, global warming, etc) the banking cartel has sought to undercut the political, economic and social sovereignty of nations around the world. As a result, their IMF, World Bank and other central bank proxies have managed to put nation after nation in massive debt to them. And as a result, they can further manipulate and control the governments (and citizens) of those nations to further enact their goal of a global government and banking system run – by them and for them – at the expense of all of humanity.

IMO, the New World Order is not a Jewish thing, it’s not a religious thing, it’s not even solely a money thing (although money is its greatest weapon). It instead is a control thing. They banking elite want to be able to control the globe and everyone in it.

However, as many who attempt to debunk the New World Order exists have said, nationalism and traditional political and ethnic hostilities have hampered the cartel’s quest for a one world government. Because of this, Russia, China and renegade states like Iran and Venezuela remain largely on the fringes of the NWO’s inner circle. Russia and China are both too big (unlike Iraq, Afghanistan, Panama) and potentially valuable to the cause to ignore or wipe out. But while political and economic relations exist between the western powers and the two outsiders; the potential for conflict with Russia and China in Eurasia or Africa remain very real.

On May 27, journalist Jesse Rosenfeld and I set out on the streets of Tel Aviv to probe the political opinions of young local residents. We started the day filming at Tel Aviv University, where a group of Jewish and Palestinian Israeli students gathered to protest a proposed law that would criminalize public observance of the Nakba, or the mass expulsion and killing of Palestinians by Zionist militias in 1948. There, we interviewed Palestinian Israeli students about the rising climate of repression, then spoke to another group of students who gathered nearby to heckle their Arab classmates and demand their deportation. A few hundred meters away, two genial business students expressed support for the so-called Nakba law, remarking to us, "If you want to keep democracy, you can't let people protest against the independence of the country."

That evening, Jesse and I took our camera to central Tel Aviv, where thousands were taking part in the annual all-night festival known as White Night. Some revelers took an intermission from the partying to express to us their hatred for the Iranian people. And a group of teenagers launched into a virtually unprompted diatribe against Barack Obama, referring to him as a Nazi, a Muslim, and a "Cushi," which is Hebrew slang for "nigger." When questioned about the source of his opinions, one teenager proudly declared himself a "gezan," or a racist.

Ex-FBI Agent: Why I Support a New 9/11 Investigation

n the absence of my being there in New York City to stand with the 9/11 families, first responders and survivors, I offer the following statement in support of your goal of a new investigation into the attacks of September 11th and the NYC CAN campaign to place it on the ballot for November.

At the time of 9-11, I had been an FBI agent for over 20 years. My main responsibilities by then were teaching criminal procedure to FBI agents and other law enforcement officers, mostly about 4th Amendment search and seizure, 5th and 6th Amendment law of interrogation, right to attorney and constitutional protection of rights to “free speech”, due process, habeas corpus, and against cruel and unusual punishment. A week before 9-11, I and the rest of the FBI’s ethics instructors were mandated (as a result of an earlier public FBI scandal) to give a one hour PowerPoint presentation, a form of remedial training on “law enforcement ethics” which I accomplished in a fairly perfunctory way, just reading the slides.

After 9-11, with the knowledge I had of the bitter internal dispute inside the FBI that was being hushed up but had kept some of our better agents from possibly uncovering more of the 9-11 plot before it happened, I couldn’t forget two of the slides in that Law Enforcement ethics curriculum: “DO NOT: Puff, Shade, Tailor, Firm up, Stretch, Massage, or Tidy up statements of fact.” And “Misplaced Loyalties: As employees of the FBI, we must be aware that our highest loyalty is to the United States Constitution. We should never sacrifice the truth in order to obtain a desired result (e.g. conviction of a defendant) or to avoid personal or institutional embarrassment.”

The official dissembling and excuse-making about the true causes and prior mistakes that gave rise to and allowed the terrorist attacks to happen, almost immediately ushered in the Bush-Cheney Administration’s egregious and lawless, post 9-11 “war on terror” agenda which bore no connection to the original causes and no connection to the goal of reducing terrorism and making the world safer. When I got a chance, about 8 ½ months after 9-11 to tell what I knew, I did so and my disclosures led to further investigation by the Department of Justice Inspector General and figured in the 9-11 Commission Report.

Dick Cheney 'hid plans to kill al-Qaida operatives abroad'

Dick Cheney, the former vice president, ordered a highly classified CIA operation hidden from Congress because it pushed the limits of legality by planning to assassinate al-Qaida operatives in friendly countries without the knowledge of their governments, according to former intelligence officials.

Former counter-terrorism officials who retain close links to the intelligence community say that the hidden operation involved plans by the CIA and the military to launch operations, similar to those by Israel's Mossad intelligence service, to hunt down and kill al-Qaida activists abroad without informing the governments concerned, even though some were regarded as friendly if unreliable.

The CIA apparently did not put the plan in to operation but the US military did, carrying out several assassinations including one in Kenya that proved to be a severe embarrassment and helped lead to the quashing of the programme.

New military robots 'could feed on corpses'

Wonderful: your most horrible military-death-cyborg-synergy dreams come true.

A Maryland company under contract with the Pentagon is developing a robot that can burn organic material and use collected debris as fuel -- including, but not limited to, things like sticks, grass, debris -- and dead bodies. Fox News reports:

Robotic Technology Inc.'s Energetically Autonomous Tactical Robot — that's right, "EATR" — "can find, ingest, and extract energy from biomass in the environment (and other organically-based energy sources), as well as use conventional and alternative fuels (such as gasoline, heavy fuel, kerosene, diesel, propane, coal, cooking oil, and solar) when suitable," reads the company's Web site.

That "biomass" and "other organically-based energy sources" wouldn't necessarily be limited to plant material — animal and human corpses contain plenty of energy, and they'd be plentiful in a war zone.

EATR will be powered by the Waste Heat Engine developed by Cyclone Power Technology of Pompano Beach, Fla., which uses an "external combustion chamber" burning up fuel to heat up water in a closed loop, generating electricity.

The advantages to the military are that the robot would be extremely flexible in fuel sources and could roam on its own for months, even years, without having to be refueled or serviced.

Upon the EATR platform, the Pentagon could build all sorts of things — a transport, an ambulance, a communications center, even a mobile gunship.
The article notes that the Pentagon could use the EATR as the foundation for any number of battlefield vehicles, be they ambulances, transports or actual weapons-oriented machines.

Tearyan Brown became a father when he was 16. He did what a lot of inner-city kids desperate to make money do. He sold drugs. He was arrested and sent to jail three years later for dealing marijuana and PCP on the streets of Trenton, N.J., mostly to white kids driving in from the suburbs. It was a job which saw him robbed at gunpoint and stabbed in the chest. But it made him about $1,400 a week.

Brown, when he got out after three and a half years, was done with street life. He got a job as a security guard and then as a fork lift operator. He eventually made about $30,000 a year. He shepherded his son through high school, then college and a master’s degree. His boy, now 24, is a high school teacher in Texas. Brown would not leave the streets of Trenton but his son would. It made him proud. It gave him hope.

And then one morning in 2005 when he was visiting his mother’s house the cops showed up. He saw the cruiser and the officers standing on his mother’s porch. He hurried down the block toward the home to see what was wrong. What was wrong was him. On the basis of a police photograph, he had been identified by an 82-year-old woman as the man who had robbed her of $9 at gunpoint a few hours earlier. The only other witness to the crime insisted the elderly victim was confused. The witness told the police Brown was innocent. Brown’s friends said Brown was with them when the robbery took place.

“Why would I rob a woman for $9,” he asks me. “I had been paid the day before. I had not committed a crime in 20 years. It didn’t make any sense.”

He was again sent to jail. But this time he was charged with armed robbery. If convicted, he would be locked away for many years. His grown son and his three young boys would live, as he had, without the presence of a father. The little ones—11-year-old twins and a 10-year-old—would be adults when he got out. When he met with his state-appointed attorney, the lawyer, like most state-appointed attorneys, pushed for accepting a plea bargain, one that would see him behind bars for at least the next decade. Brown pulled the pictures of his children out of his wallet, laid the pictures carefully on the table in front of the lawyer, looked at the faces of his children and broke down in tears. He shook and sobbed. It was a hard thing to do for a man who stands nearly 6 feet tall and weights 210 pounds and has coped with a lot in his life.

British scientists claim to create human sperm

LONDON (AP) — British scientists claimed Wednesday to have created human sperm from stem cells but other experts questioned their data.

Researchers at Newcastle University and the NorthEast England Stem Cell Institute say they used a new technique to derive what they described as sperm cells from embryonic stem cells. Stem cells have the potential to become any cell in the body.

Newcastle research leader Karim Nayernia said in a statement Wednesday that the technique would allow researchers to study how sperm develops and possibly help develop treatments for infertile men.

The research was published Wednesday in the journal Stem Cells and Development.

But many other British experts cast doubt on the research. They also said the sperm cells created in the laboratory were clearly abnormal.

"I am unconvinced from the data presented in this paper that the cells produced by Professor Nayernia's group from embryonic stem cells can be accurately called 'spermatazoa," said Allan Pacey, a senior lecturer in andrology at the University of Sheffield.

North Korea Launches Several Missiles Off Its Eastern Coast

South Korea's Defense Ministry says North Korea launched five missiles off its eastern coast Saturday, following similar tests earlier this week.

The Yonhap news agency quotes military officials as saying the missiles appear to be a type of short-range Scud missile.

The missiles were fired over several hours from Saturday morning, with the fifth missile launched in the afternoon.

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff released a statement saying the military is fully ready to counter any North Korean threats and provocations.

Japan's Foreign Ministry has condemned the latest missile launches as a serious act of provocation against the security of neighboring countries.

North KoreaThe United States and North Korea's neighbors have described four North Korean missile tests Thursday as provocative, and called on the communist country to return to negotiations on de-nuclearization.

The the latest missile tests are taking place as the United States begins to celebrate is July 4 Independence Day holiday.

The missile tests add to the tensions on the Korean peninsula over North Korea's May 25 nuclear test and an April ballistic missile launch.

Britain's ambassador to Pyongyang Peter Hughes said Friday there was no evidence that North Korea was preparing to launch a long-range missile.

Japan defense officials last month said Pyongyang was preparing to launch a long-range missile capable of reaching the U.S. state of Hawaii around the U.S. Independence Day holiday.

NYT's Egan: Bush Years of 'Sanctioned Torture and War Built on Deceit'

Liberal New York Times reporter turned liberal nytimes.com blogger, Timothy Egan, posted "Capture the Flag" on Thursday, on how heartening it was to see American flags pop up in liberal domains. The post was ostensibly a plea for people of all political views to have faith in the future good of America. But Egan excused liberals for their lack of public patriotism during the Bush years, citing "years of sanctioned torture and war built on deceit."

Traveling in California and New York over the last couple of weeks, I noticed something in the summer landscape of these two deeply blue states that is more reminiscent of rural America this time of year -- a surfeit of American flags.

Among the offerings of street vendors in Harlem and outdoor stalls near the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the flag is often fused with the image of President Obama, a burst of color against a bleak wall, sometimes with a Superman motif. In California, I saw Old Glory on bicycles in the Bay Area, on backpacks in Yosemite and at campgrounds under the redwoods.

It's not unusual to see a flag in liberal provinces, of course. But in the Bush years of sanctioned torture and war built on deceit, many Americans withdrew from overt displays of patriotism. Some said they were ashamed of their country.

I wondered whether urban Americans, overwhelmingly Democratic, had something against the flag, or if they felt the country was no longer theirs. Now you can ask the same question of the other side of the political spectrum.

After giving Obama a pass on the flag-pin controversy, Egan insisted that a fringe secessionist movement in Texas matched the unrelenting Bush-hatred shown by the left for eight years (while ignoring Texas's unique entry into the Union, which makes talk of secession less odd than it would in other states).

At the same time, in deep red states like Texas, where secession talk heated up in the first months of the Obama presidency, there has been a passionate public embrace of the vaunted Lone Star flag, symbol of independence dating to the days of the Republic of Texas. Incidentally, the blue in that flag stands for loyalty, as defined by state code.

Ian Tomlinson video shows surveillance can work both ways

The Guardian's publication today of amateur footage showing Ian Tomlinson, the bystander who died during last week's G20 protests, apparently being pushed over by a Met policeman makes depressing viewing. What a pointless waste of an innocent life.

But the incident serves to ease our current gloom in one respect. We worry a great deal about surveillance technology and the Big Brother era. But in a relatively open society where a newspaper can publish the facts as they emerge, it's a reminder that surveillance can work both ways, as inverse surveillance: the hunters hunted.

Who now remembers Rodney King? We'll come back to him, but are you aware (as I was not) that the French have a two-dollar word for this: "sousveillance" – "sous" as in from beneath and distinct from "sur" as in from above.

As Duncan Campbell set out in a typically measured article last night, we've been through demo deaths before – Kevin Gately (1974) and Blair Peach (1979) – as well as the 2005 killing of the Brazilian electrician Jean Charles de Menezes during the London bombing alert (though I always feel obliged to point out that the Brazilian police routinely do this sort of thing with impunity).

"Impunity" is the key word. The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is already on the case of Tomlinson's death and the footage – filmed by an American fund manager on a business trip from New York – will obviously take it much further. The case will end up with the CPS.

As Duncan says, the initial police explanation no longer stands up. Nor did it after the shooting of De Menezes. This time there were cameras all over the place: police camcorders, CCTV, and those of the protesters, passing fund managers and news snappers. Surely the police must have their own access to footage of the incident? We will now find out.

Perhaps it is inevitable that, fired up with testosterone like the young people they were confronting in the City on 1 April, some young coppers will forget that they are being filmed too.

That was the lesson the Los Angeles police department learned in 1991 when they beat up Rodney King with their batons after a high-speed chase along the freeway system. King was not an upright citizen; he had been drinking and was in violation of his parole for a robbery conviction. He also resisted arrest.

But the police used excessive force – including taser stun guns and a 90-second kicking when he was finally subdued. No one would have believed King's account if George Holliday, another of those bystanders, hadn't filmed it.

Yes, I realise that the trial of four officers was transferred to the white suburbs and they were acquitted. It triggered the 1992 downtown LA riots, a few blocks from where my wife's cousin lives. It cost 53 lives and $1bn. A federal court later jailed two of the four officers and King got $3m in compensation.

With their approval, men who might otherwise live in relative obscurity become governors and presidents. Without their approval, presidents tremble and kingdoms fall. These are the titans of the world. They are virtually omnipotent from a humanistic sense--and they are completely invisible. From on-high they govern those who govern. They are the masters of the universe who are shaping Earth into global hegemony of subservient nation-states that will shortly become a universal, multi-continental nation governed for, and by, the elite's of the world.

Below them on the ladder of power are the presidents, prime ministers and bureaucratic minions--those we commonly view as the most powerful men and women in the world. They are the lawmakers and the bureaucratic administrators of social justice in the developed world. The geopolitical policies they implement determine the direction of nations and whether peace or war envelopes the globe.

In the sphere we observe with our eyes and other senses, these two groups are the most powerful men and women in the world. Or are they?

In the United States of America, the politicians are legally obligated to observe the protective protocol of the Bill of Rights when they enact the laws by which we are governed. However, the men in black who "judge" the merits of the laws of the land have assumed for themselves the right to ignore, or mitigate the Bill of Rights in their decisions by coupling unrelated laws together in order to either "veto" existing case law or create new laws that allow the men in black to promulgate an unpopular social agenda that could never be successfully legislated by the lawmakers.

Three recent examples of judicial abuse are found in [1] the Dec. 2, 2003 ruling of the U.S. Supreme Court that allows police officers to violate the 4th Amendment with "no knock" searches. In that decision, the high court ruled in U.S. v Banks that the police, if they believe a suspect will destroy the evidence against them if they have a chance, do not have to wait before breaking down the door.

Dah? Excuse me?

What police officer would think otherwise?

All those in favor of waiting for the suspect to ditch the evidence against him before they let the police in, raise their hand. Everyone else, break down the door.

On July 28, 1998 North Las Vegas police raided the home of LaShawn Lowell Banks with a search warrant. They knocked, and even before someone 20 feet from the door could possibly have opened it, they crashed the door in.

When they got inside, Banks had just stepped out of his shower, dripping wet, to answer the door. The masked police officers took Banks, naked and dripping wet, handcuffed into the kitchen for interrogation. They found crack cocaine. Banks was arrested, tried, convicted and sent to prison. He appealed to the 9th Circuit. The appellate court ruled that the 4th Amendment mandated that officers wait a reasonable period after knocking before breaking down the door. The 9th Circuit Court threw out the conviction on the grounds that the evidence against Banks was secured by violating Banks' 4th Amendment rights.

I hate drug dealers, and I hate drugs. And, generally I have nothing but contempt for the decisions coming from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. But, this time, I agree with them. You can't abrogate the Bill of Rights when it is convenient to catch the bad guys and expect those abuses not to happen when the State decide to go after one of the good guys. The Bill of Rights either protects everyone, or it protects no one.

In this instance, in a 7 to 2 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court decided the 4th Amendment should not protect anyone. The high court of the land ruled that the 4th Amendment can be breached if it hinders law enforcement's effort to collect evidence of suspected crimes. Ignored by the justices is the reason the 4th Amendment exists. The 4th Amendment was deliberately, and with much forethought, inserted in the Bill of Rights to prevent a heavy-handed government of doing precisely what the high court has now authorized the police to do. In the interest of law enforcement expediency, the Bill of Rights has been abrogated by the courts. They are, and will continue to get away with this "minor" infringements of our rights because federal judges, with lifetime appointments, do not have to answer to the electorate.

Had Ronald Wilson Reagan not been elected the 40th President of the United States on Nov. 4, 1980, and had James Earl Carter been reelected instead, by the summer of 1981 the newspapers would not have been focused on Reagan recuperating from a near-fatal assassination attempt at the hands of wannabe assassin John Hinckley, but rather the media would be asking when would Americans start using the global currency of the International Monetary Fund instead of the US dollar?

In April, 1980 economist Leroy O. Laney, then an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Miami and now Professor of Economics at the University of Hawaii, was quietly retained as an economist-consultant for the Federal Reserve Bank in Dallas to examine the weakness of the foreign exchange value of the US dollar and estimate the viability of the dollar's future as the world's reserve currency. In the first page of his report, after carefully noting his report was a "working paper," and not a planned action of the Fed, he observed that questions about "...the dollar's continued role at the center of the world's financial system" arise when the dollar comes under downward pressure in the market. Laney noted the current pressures began in 1973 with the dollar fell after being devalued twice in one decade, between 1973 and 1978. Clamoring to replace the dollar as the world's reserve currency in 1980 was the Duetschemark, the Swiss Franc and the Japanese Yen. Today, it's the Russian Rouble and the Chinese Yuan. The Deutsche Bundesbank argued, in 1979, that the Deutschemark should become the world's reserve currency since, in 1979, the mark accounted for 11.3% of the official foreign exchange, making it the most likely replacement for the US dollar.

In the 1970s, due to the volatility of the US dollar and the weakness of the British pound, there was a lot of talk about reviving the official monetary role of gold—but not necessarily reinstituting the gold standard. Gold advocates suggested using gold as an alternative asset in central bank portfolios. The Carter Administration assured the European Community in 1978 that if the Europeans sought reserve currency diversification for both their national markets and the euromarkets, the United States would not attempt to artificially perpetuate the international status of the US dollar. By 1980, Carter further obliged the globalists in Europe who were attempting to create a global monetary unit to replace all of the world's currencies by amassing its own foreign currency reserve rather than relying on short-term central bank swap lines and the traditional financing of the nation's deficit by increasing dollar-denominated liabilities to foreign countries.

Northrop Grumman wins VisIOn Information Operations contract

RESTON, Va., 29 June 2009. Northrop Grumman Corp. will develop the software architecture for the Virtual Integrated Support for Information Operations eNvironment (VisIOn) system, which will provide situational awareness and mission planning capabilities for information operations across all U.S. military commands.

Information operations employs electronic warfare, cyber network operations, military deception, psychological warfare, and operations security to disrupt enemy decision-making, while protecting information necessary for U.S. warfighters to make critical decisions.

Under the task order, Northrop Grumman will provide a VisIOn baseline system integrated upon a network-centric, service-oriented architecture. The task order is the first phase of the VisIOn program and was awarded through the Defense Information Systems Agency's Encore II umbrella contract.

VisIOn is a cyber-based mission planning tool for the information operations warfighter. It is an easy-to-use, web-based program to develop a specific and deliberate course of action based on intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance data coming in from across the battle space, company officials say. VisIOn will monitor the information operations situation by continually mining intelligence data from a wide array of sources, ensure situational awareness to warfighters, evaluate potential plans, and develop and execute appropriate courses of action.

"Information is more critical than ever to the success of our warfighters, and VisIOn will help commanders collect, protect and use that information to plan and execute critical missions," says Kathy Warden, vice president of the Cyber and Signals Intelligence Systems business unit within Northrop Grumman's Information Systems sector. "Northrop Grumman understands the necessity of providing warfighters the best possible information operations mission planning capability. To that end, we have established a team to employ subject matter experts with critical information operations field experience."

U.S. Joint Forces Command and U.S. Strategic Command have formed a strategic partnership to develop, manage, and execute VisIOn with oversight by the Pentagon's Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence.
